There is currently Loan funding and Grant funding. The loans are processed by an independent financial service provider and Grands are processed at the Exxaro Head Office.

There are procedures that are set for financial support to be provided. Once the application is received screening is undertaken to determine the required funding of support.
This platform may be accessed from any device with an internet connection. Simply register by clicking on Sign In, then select Register. Once you have registered, you will be able to apply for a Loan or Grant.
The online platform was created for the very purpose of making sure your application is digitally received by us. Through the portal you will have visibility of your application and the status thereof. Should you wish to query any information pertaining to your application of profile, you are welcome to contact support via this Portal.

Applicant that has completed an application form and submitted the documents required supporting documents.

The application takes +- 1 month to process.

The team process your application and if there is a need to submit other supporting documents you are requested to do so. If applicable a site visit is scheduled as part of the process.

You will be scheduled to present your request to the ESD team in preparations of the ESD Committee meeting,

A business case of your application will be finalized for your presentation to the ESD Committee meeting. The ESD Committee is the one that determine the if the application is approved or declined
Your application maybe declined if you did not meet and qualify to the set application requirements.

  • Applying business does not qualify for support based on black ownership levels or annual turnover.
  • Applying business is not able to submit all the required supporting documents.
  • Applying business is involved in illegal trade.
  • Speculative real estate and any other business proposal of a speculative nature
  • Applying business seeks to procure existing non-viable businesses in terms of Exxaro’s internal assessment
  • Applying business requires funds for turnaround purposes where liquidation processes have been instituted
  • Applying business’ trade or operations may prejudice the reputation and good standing of Exxaro
  • Technically insolvent businesses and individuals
  • Existing ESD beneficiaries whose loan accounts are written off or in arrears
  • The applying business and/or applicant is under debt review
  • The applying business and/or applicant is under administration
  • Any business having directors (or equivalent) who are un-rehabilitated insolvent individuals; and
  • Employees of Exxaro, without permission that is granted by the Exxaro Social and Ethics Committee to participate.
  • Applying business scores less than 60 minimum threshold points on the Enterprise and Supplier Development Scoring Matrix.

Before you are able to apply for funding, you are required to create a Portal Profile, thereafter,


  • Complete your personal profile details,
  • Select from the menu, Apply for Loan & Grant,
  • Complete the Loan & Grant Application,
  • Once you have completed the Online Application, you will be able to monitor the progress.

You will receive emails. The first email will confirm receipt of online application,

The second email will indicate whether the application has been validated by the system or has been rejected due to errors,

If the application was successfully validated the portal will send you a third email notifying you of the application has been passed to the agency assisting.
During the online application process, the third and final step allows you to upload the required documents. Should you need to add or replace documents once you have completed your application, you may select from the menu, "Update Loan & Grant Application", scroll to the bottom of the page and you will be able to add additional documents to your application.
Before you can create an application, you will need to register on the Portal. Once you have registered you will be able to immediately create an application for a "Loan & Grant".
